National Playlist Day 2025

Friday 19th September is National Playlist Day, a UK-wide celebration of the power of meaningful music for people living with dementia.

National Playlist Day asks: what’s on your personalised playlist? What music makes up the soundtrack of your life? It’s a chance to celebrate the music that shapes us.

Everyone has a soundtrack to their life, and National Playlist Day seeks to uncover these special and unique playlists, all while raising awareness of a simple but effective intervention already benefitting thousands of people living with dementia throughout the UK.

Music and Dementia

Decades of scientific research has shown that music can be a lifeline for people living with dementia. And listening to our all-time favourite songs has psychological benefits for us all.

You can take part in National Playlist Day and help raise awareness of the power of personally meaningful music.

Make a Playlist

Have you ever listened to a piece of music that takes you right back to when you were a kid? Or heard a song on the radio that makes you think of a holiday with your mates? When tunes connect you with happy memories - that’s the power of personally meaningful music.
